This week we are listing many rare malay pop,rock and heavy metal vinyl records made in the late 80s toearly 90s. These are rare items as they were intended for radio use only, for the DJ to promote the album and not for the general public. The only format available then for the public was cassette tape as CD was not yet used to release these malay songs at the time. Because it was a promo item, they usually come in a plain white sleeve with a cassette tape cover pasted on it or preprinted songtrack in black and white font. To manufacture a proper/conventional record cover for these limited released was unfeasible for the recording labels.
Most of the bands listed in this batch will be in the pop to rock to metal categories. when mentioned as heavy metal, it refers to the heavy metal look that they have (long hair, clothing and to a certain extend the style of music). Not all "heavy metal" malay band play metal music in the traditional sense, as they were encouraged to make ballads and and many radio friendly rock songs by their labels. However one can detect certain heavy metal influence in some of the songs written.
These Rock and metal malay bands were the anti establishment of the time and many were banned from appearing on TV and only certain songs were allowed to be played on the radio. As such, you may see a radio station Program director signature or stamp on some of these records. In addition, some songs may be striked out or initial "x" places on the tracks unsuitable for radio play. These markings(removable using the right solution) were often made in gold ink and should not affect the playability of the records but add historical value to this item as being an artifact from a "rebellious" band that was perceived as anti establishment.
Many of these bands have faded into obscurity or disbanded, and many of the initial pressing were detroyed, thrown, damaged or in the hands of serious collectors. All these make these vinyl pressing rare and collectible. They are highly sought after by collectors who wish to own the beginnings of malay rock/metal musical history that took place circa mid 80s-early 90s.

With thousands of records, artist, and editions, it is impossible to know everything.We are not record experts and we try to describe as best as we can. Unless specifically printed on label as “made in. USA,England etc” we will state it as International Edition” or “Asian Edition” the country in which these records were found. The picture shown for non picture sleeve 7”, is the sleeve found with the records and may or may not belong to that particular record.
As for the cover/sleeve, there as so many differing views and opinions on the condition/grading that we feel it is best to show the picture itself You be the judge. Because these records are very old, maybe 20-50years of age, it is normal to find imperfections such as creases, bends, yellowing, previous owner’s initials etc
Visual Grading for record only . Cover as seen in photos, normal yellowing due to age
• Mint (M) : Sealed and Unplayed/Not used
• Nearly Mint NM: Played a few times with no visible marks
• VG++: very few signs of scuffs/hairlines
• VG+ : several scuffs/hairlines or marks but should not skip
• VG : has marks and scuffs on 30%-40% of surface and may have background noise.
• VG- : played too many times and show more than average signs of wear.
• G: Less than average. May skip or have noise. This grade is for rare records for collection only, not for playing.
